Shetland Sheepdog! Looks like a mini Lassie. Wish I was that cute, lol! Anyway, if anyone's interested in discovering their Inner Dog, here's
the link: http://www.gone2thedogs.com/index.html?
Other than that, I'm chipping away at a holiday story for the AK mini-zine and am pleased that others are doing the same.
Discovered that my mild-mannered and extremely gentle cat, Tommy, would rather break every bone in his body than be put into a cat carrier and taken to the vet for his annual exam. Let's just say, he won the wrestling match. No vet visit. Now, what do I do if he ever really *needs* to go, that's the question.
On the even more trivial side, I'm baking cookies tomorrow for a cookie exchange at work. Doing one with apricots, pine nuts, toasted almonds and an amaretto glaze. Never did a cookie exchange before. Looking forward to it.
Here's to keeping warm and making the best of the holidays. I know it's been rough for a lot of you. Hope we all have a much better New Year.

I couldn't let Nick's birthday go by without doing something. I hope we get to see more of Nick this year and in some better projects...please! Anyway, just dashed off this drabble...Happy Birthday, Nick!

Downloaded Nick singing and am trying to sneak a peek before I go home but I don't think I'll get a chance. :( Can't wait to see it!
And in other news, we had a little 5.6 earthquake here last night. Normally, everyone's pretty laid-back about a tremor or two, but once you get up in the 5.0 and up range, it's a tad more difficult to ignore, especially when it seem to go on and on and on.... I stood under my living room doorway, swaying back and forth and watching my table lamp shaking like a leaf. My cat, Bobby, looked at me for a few seconds and then strolled over to his food bowl for a snack. That's when I KNEW, it wasn't going to get worse! Cats are so cool.
Anyway, have a Happy Halloween Everybody!

Anyway, had to try and whip out a little something for the occasion. So, here's a little Halloween fic.
Title: "Three Halloweens That Never Happened to Alex Krycek"
Pairing: gee, let's make a guess :D
Word count: a little over 5,200
Rating: some language, mild R

Well, this makes me feel good, not only because the issue of global warming is critically significant to ALL of us, but because I recall way back in '92, when George Bush *Senior* dismissed Gore's environmental concerns and referred to him (very condescendingly) as "The Ozone Kid."
And now, 15 years later, Bush JR has created his ignominious legacy of incompetence, deceit and arrogance and Gore has definitively proven that he is NOT the loser of the two. SO THERE!

Gee, chick-flick heaven (not too realistic, mostly romantic, mostly happily ended). LOL! But, I was hoping for something a bit different, maybe. One I can think of and highly recommend: "The Sum of Us" starring a young Russell Crowe as a gay man living with his father and looking for "Mr. Right." There are scenes in that one that can really start the tears rolling.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Saw "Ratatouille"--very entertaining. Please don't bring any kid under 10--it'll probably bore them as it did the four little kids who sat behind us and chattered and whined and sneezed snot into my hair. I still managed to enjoy the movie! Testament enough.

LJ cut is behaving erratically; if it doesn't work, I'll just post a link to the story on my webpage. Anyway, here are the particulars:
Title: Bridges
Pairing: Mulder/Krycek
Word Count: 7,700 or so
Rating: a little adult language, nothing explicit (darn it)
EDIT: Griva created a lovely cover for the story and you can see it on my website-

Just gotta say that it's nice to see a movie about real, adult human beings once in a while. I recommend it. Really good performances, especially by Keri Russell. Interesting characters. Thought the script was going to be formulaic, but it rises above that, IMO. There's humor and pathos and a bittersweet edge. The film was very satisfying, I thought. And, if you like PIE, this is the film for you! Also very glad to see Nathan Fillion; he was as attractive and appealing as ever.
A strange, tragic note about the film: the writer/director, Adrienne Shelly, who also plays a waitress in the film, was murdered by some crazed construction worker after she complained about the noise near her office. Pointless. Bizarre.

He's got some Krycek in him, that's for sure. He's a survivor, my Bobby. He's always been tough, but meets me at the door ever day when I come home from work, follows me around like a dog, cuddles with me every chance he gets (whether I like it or not), and makes me smile just when I need to. He has to take pills every day now for hypertension and I give him IV fluids every other day (what a learning experience that was!), but he still bats around his ping pong balls once in a while and even manages to chase his nemesis, my other cat, Katrina, all over the house, albeit slowly. His hair is thinner and he gets more mats, he's skinny and his muscle tone is mostly gone, but he's still beautiful to me. I'm giving him his favorite treat, Brunswick sardines in spring water to celebrate. Just take a look at this expression; that's his 'why the hell are you sticking a camera in my face again?!' look. Happy Birthday, Bobby!

I suppose it could be a hit, but who cares. It's "Amazing Race" with cars on steroids. Inexplicable and not as interesting. 'Course I could only take a half hour of it, and that included the commercials. If anyone has the fortitude to watch it to the end, let me know what you think.

And I still have no DSL connection!
Well, this means I'll have to change my damn email address with all the crap that entails, dump my web page, make sure my stories are somewhere and get another ISP. (Deep breath. Deep breath. Deep breath.)

Here are two Mulder/Krycek "story starts" that I found as I peered into my moth-ridden WIP folder. I wasn't sure where to go with them, so I let them languish, and languish and languish…
Anyway, since LJ allows me to annoy my flist like this, I'm posting them to see if anyone has any suggestions (aside from deleting them, which is certainly a viable option) that might actually result in some semblance of a *plot*. If so, I sure would be thrilled to hear 'em.
So, here they are:
